Under the influence: Practical Magic

I walked out of Practical Magic 2 wanting to grow my hair, fill my kitchen with herbs and, naturally, completely rethink my wardrobe.

I loved it. There is something about the world of Practical Magic that makes witchcraft incredibly appealing. The Owens women, their beautiful old house, the garden, the sisterhood and, of course, the clothes. It is romantic, feminine and just strange enough.

Our fascination with witches is nothing new. For centuries they were figures of fear and suspicion, particularly during the European witch trials, when thousands of people, predominantly women, were accused of witchcraft. Somehow, the witch has since undergone quite the rebrand. Today she is mysterious, independent and, apparently, very well dressed.

And suddenly, everything in my wardrobe needed a little more magic

The RBCCA KSTR Devin Necklace in Black Agate and Silver feels like something you would find tucked inside an Owens family jewellery box. The Rowie Emmy Midi Skirt has that soft, floating femininity made for wandering through an overgrown garden, while Deiji Studios’ black Simple Tie Top brings in something a little darker.

Then there is the Silk Laundry black Scoop Neck Dress, which may be the easiest route into your Practical Magic era without looking like you are actually attending a coven.

Add the St. Agni Steel Suede Woven Tote, a little Silk Laundry blush cardigan and suddenly I have convinced myself witchy dressing is entirely practical.

And really, if we  can’t have the Owens house, the wardrobe feels like a pretty good place to start.

Until next week,

Love, Ra xxx
