At Deiji Studios, sustainability and social conscience is considered integral to every facet of their company. As a reasonably new business, they continue to learn and evolve, finding better practices and more efficient ways of doing this as they grow.
They are a member of 1% for the planet, meaning Deiji Studios pledge 1% of their yearly sales revenue to non for profits. Deiji Studios work to actively offset their carbon usage and also support Carbon Positive Australia who plant trees across Australia that are are protected for 25-100 years.
All Deiji Studios collections are designed with a growing list of natural fibres including 100% OEKO-TEX 100 certified and EU certified linen and 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. These fabrications are naturally hypoallergenic and have unique anti-bacterial properties, making them highly breathable and even more importantly 100% biodegradable.
Deiji Studios mindfully produce their garments in two small, family-run factories in China, which they visit regularly. They are dedicated to supporting and empowering these partners to enhance the wellbeing of the people who make their garments and contribute positively to their local communities. Every worker is guaranteed fair pay, reasonable working hours, and safe working conditions. Deiji Studios ensure that wages for a standard workweek are sufficient to provide a decent standard of living—covering essentials such as food, water, housing, education, medical care, clothing, transport, and other necessary costs.
Because environmental responsibility is central to Deiji Studios’ values, the team personally visits their China-based factories to ensure this principle is upheld in the production of both garments and bedding. Their linen is softened using natural pumice stones, and all wastewater is recycled and treated to minimise environmental impact. With recent improvements to local government standards, all factories are required to comply with these regulations or cease operations. Deiji Studios also avoid the use of harmful AZO dyes in all fabrics, and any leftover materials are collected and donated to local craftspeople, who repurpose them into woven blankets and rugs.
